1. The Body
The prelude, paired musically with the album's finale, "Pax". The lyric setting the stage for matters of the body, self-contempt, rest, and damnation.

music: Zadok Wartes, Tara Ward
lyric: Paul the Apostle
musicians: Zadok Wartes (synthesizer, programming), Tara Ward (voice)
time: 2:21

2. The Golden Sequence
One of four medievel Sequences in the Roman Liturgy. Commissioned work intended for corporate voices, but quite troubling to execute on instruments. A highly compressed, robotic production that set the tone and direction of the album early on.

music: Zadok Wartes
lyric: unknown
musicians: Tara Ward (voice), Zadok Wartes (voice, synthesizer, programming)
time: 3:45

3. Everywhere Else
Our obsession with the Moog synthesizer continues. Composed as an anthem for Seattle's distinguished Aurora neighborhood. A live version of this is found on Volume 3.

music: Zadok Wartes
lyric: Zadok Wartes
musicians: Zadok Wartes (voice, synthesizer, programming), Tara Ward (voice)
time: 4:35

4. All The Wrong Things
The benefit of rigid, synthesized music is that it can allow the vocalist to indulge themself. A microphone inside the skull: ideals, intimacy, food, computer programming, Obama, a theology of surfing.

music: Zadok Wartes
lyric: Tara Ward, Zadok Wartes
musicians: Tara Ward (voice), Zadok Wartes (voice, synthesizer, programming)
time: 6:20

5. Paschal Troparion
Our first commissioned work, for corporate voices at Easter. The ancient, concise text is rather cliche so finding compelling and singable music was the task. Fortunately, inspiration struck in the form of Danny Boyle's elegant "Sunshine" and the chaps from Underworld.

music: Zadok Wartes
lyric: public domain
musicians: Tara Ward (voice), Ryan Davis (bass), Kay Lambert (cello), Zadok Wartes (voice, synthesizer, programming)
time: 4:17

6. Passover In Heaven
A friend sent us this bold poem about a possible heaven. Written as a thematic response to "Paschal Troparion", whose chorus declares Christ's work rescuing all from the grave. Sometimes artists play with ideas they do not necessarily hold to be true or good; this should be unnerving.

music: Zadok Wartes
lyric: John Howard
musicians: Zadok Wartes (voice, synthesizer, programming)
time: 1:55

7. Come
A nasty mashup of two very different styles. Come my love.

music: Zadok Wartes, Tara Ward
lyric: Tara Ward
musicians: Zadok Wartes (synthesizer, programming), Tara Ward (voice)
time: 5:21

8. Sanctissima
This English and Latin text was found in a book of old Christmas carols and again we couldn't be bothered to learn the music so we composed our own. A brash saxophone and synth-bass rooted things over an education in drum breaks, which come right undone by the last phrase.

music: Zadok Wartes, Tara Ward
lyric: unknown
musicians: Ben Fowler (saxaphone), Tara Ward (voice), Zadok Wartes (voice, synthesizer, programming)
time: 4:23

9. Beautiful Savior
Putting to use the alternate text to the more popular hymn, "Fairest Lord Jesus". The voices are meant to sound like prisoners singing from different cells.

music: Tara Ward, Zadok Wartes
lyric: public domain
musicians: Tara Ward (voice), Zadok Wartes (voice, synthesizer, programming)
time: 3:56

10. Pax
This composition was originally a lilting ballad on Lacey's album "Waking Holding Dreaming Dying", here revisioned as a wide angle, loud finale. The lyric is as sincere as it is sad: Tell me something about you I do not know, something so sweet that I may know rest. Oh the troubling ideas of God, which keep us up at night.

music: Lacey Brown
lyric: Lacey Brown
musicians: Tara Ward (voice), Zadok Wartes (voice, programming, synthesizer)
time: 3:27
